Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever. (Psalm 106:1)

Are you getting ready for the holidays yet?  I hope this year’s holiday season
will be peaceful and stress-free for your family. A few weeks ago
my 6 and 7 year old have been learning about the Pilgrims,
Native Americans and the first Thanksgiving through the My Father’s
World History lessons. With the Thanksgiving holiday fast
, I thought it would be a perfect time for a Thanksgiving Lapbook.

We are also getting started on our 21 days of Thanksgiving activity
which I posted last week. Keep in mind that this lapbook was created
for my 1st and 2nd grader and you may need to add other items for
an older child if needed.

The purpose of this lapbook is to do a fun activity that will help
young children to understand the history and purpose of the
Thanksgiving holiday.

At the end of the day I really just hope that my children will be able
to answer the following question: ‘’What is Thanksgiving all about?’’
If the answer is ‘’It’s about inviting people and getting stuffed with turkey!’’,
then I would know that we’ve got some more work to do. If the answer
includes giving thanks to God, being grateful and an answer to why the
pilgrims had their first thanksgiving, then I think I we’re on the right track.

Thanks for posting this Lapbook. I am using it with my boys to bring Thanksgiving to them here in Tanzania, East Africa. Trying to find ways for my kids to experience and connect with their country so far away. God Bless and keep sharing! It is a blessing to all us out here around the world.
